What a Dental Hygienist Wants You to Know About Kids' Teeth! by Mindy Hudon, M.S., CCC-SLP

What a Dental Hygienist Wants You to Know About Kids' Teeth!

I went to the dentist today and I asked my hygienist what she thought was the most important thing a parent should know about their children’s teeth. To my surprise, she said that fruit juice and sports drinks were just as damaging to your child’s teeth as soda.

She suggested that fruit juice and milk only be served at mealtime and that children shouldn’t be allowed to sip these drinks all day long. In place of sports drinks, she suggested water with fruit slices or zero-calorie, zero-sugar sports drinks. These changes will help keep your children’s teeth healthy and your dentist happy.
